Roswell, New Mexico season 2 is official, and it’s guaranteed to be out of this world! Here’s everything you need to know about the new episodes.
The first season of Roswell, New Mexico was delightfully packed with mystery, romance, and complex, interesting characters, both alien and human alike. It proved itself to be a worthy reboot of the beloved original Roswell series, while also captivating a whole new group of fans.
Thankfully, the series has been renewed for season 2, because there’s a lot more alien adventure to be had. The season 1 finale shook things up in a big way, and we absolutely can’t wait to see where everyone’s stories go from here.
While you’re waiting for those beautiful aliens to come back to your TV screen, check out everything we know about Roswell, New Mexico season 2, so far.
‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 2 premiere date
Roswell, New Mexico is part of the CW’s mid-season lineup, and will be making a move from Tuesdays to Mondays for season 2. It will premiere on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 9pm ET. The Roswell, New Mexico season 2 premiere will air following the final mid-season premiere of Supernatural.
What can we expect to see in season 2?
Like we said, season 1 of Roswell, New Mexico was packed with mystery, and the season finale did a great job of wrapping some of those mysteries up while leaving us with a few new ones to ponder over the hiatus.
Perhaps the biggest mystery was who killed Rosa Ortecho, and that was answered in a few different and unexpected ways. We went from thinking Rosa was responsible for her own death, to believing it was Max or Isobel, to learning that Isobel’s seemingly sweet husband Noah was behind it all. He used his close relationship with Isobel to telepathically control her to do all kinds of bad stuff, including kill Rosa.
Luckily, it turns out Rosa isn’t actually dead at all! Noah, who was head over heels in love with her, had kept her body in his pod. Upon her discovery, Max, who’d recently been told he had way more power than he ever thought, used every ounce of it to bring her back to life.
When Roswell, New Mexico returns for season 2, we’ll finally see if Max survived the resurrection, or if he took Rosa’s place among the dead. AKA, they’ll spend the first episode of season 2 trying to figure out how to bring him back, ultimately succeeding. That’s if he doesn’t wake up within the first few minutes of the premiere. This isn’t our first CW show, Roswell, New Mexico!
Death wasn’t the only heavy thing dropped on Max in the season 1 finale. He also found out that he is somewhat of a “savior” to his alien race, and that aliens are currently on their way to find him. His siblings are going through their own struggles, too, with Isobel grieving over the loss of the life she thought she had, and Michael caught in the middle of an ever-intensifying love triangle with Alex and Maria.
Now that Rosa’s back, she’ll be trying to figure out what she’s missed in the decade since her death. She’ll be teaming up with Kyle, her half-brother, to fill in some blanks. She might even end up helping him with the Master Sergeant that he’s got tied up in his figurative closet. In fact, it looks like they’ll have to make a deal with Jesse Manes to get some information after somebody mysteriously vanishes…alien abduction, anyone?
As for Liz, she’ll be keeping herself busy with her science as she deals with Max’s fate and Rosa’s resurrection. It sounds like this season of Roswell, New Mexico will be even more dramatic and exciting for her than the last.
7 things we want to see in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 2
It’s official, Roswell, New Mexico will be returning for a second season! Season 1 was full of drama, romance, mystery, and smokin’ hot aliens, and we’re hoping for even more of all of that in season 2.
Roswell, New Mexico season 1 ended on a huge cliffhanger. They discovered Rosa Ortecho in Noah’s pod and Max, having just discovered some pretty insane things about himself, brought her back to life! The episode continued just long enough for us to get a very confused Ortecho sister reunion, followed by the reveal that Max may not have survived the miraculous resurrection.
Thankfully, the show will get to continue the story so we can see what happens next. Here’s everything we want to see in Roswell, New Mexico season 2.
So…who is Max Evans?
I’m going to start this one off by saying what we all already know. There’s no way that Max is dead. The Echo romance is the crux of the show, the alien trio dynamic is far too fascinating, and we just learned some really heavy stuff about Max.
If Noah is to be believed, not only were Max and his siblings important enough to be in the premium pods on their ship, but Max is extra special. Apparently, he’s some sort of deity or “savior” to their people. He even took it upon himself to prove Noah right almost immediately by going maximum savior mode on Rosa.
I can’t wait to see his powers develop further in Roswell, New Mexico season 2, and to see what it does to his character. He just learned about his abilities and he’s already on a bit of a power trip. I know I’m not the only one interested in his powers, because apparently the victors of the alien war are coming back for him. More aliens, please!
All of the Ortecho family bonding
Some of the most heartwarming scenes in Roswell, New Mexico season 1 were those between Liz and Arturo Ortecho. Their relationship might not be the typical father-daughter dynamic, with Liz feeling extremely protective over Arturo, but they are so sweet and loving together and always a treat to watch.
Everything we’ve seen between Liz and Rosa has been from the past since…you know…she’s been dead, but we’ve also seen some great moments between them. They’re very different, but they have such a strong bond that I can’t wait to see more of. We’ve mostly seen happy memories between them, so I’m excited to really get into their sisterhood and to see how deep their bond goes.
Michael needs to make a decision
Michael made it clear in the Roswell, New Mexico season 1 finale that he’s still in love with Alex (as if that was even a question), but in the end, he ran to Maria. Apparently, his love for Alex hurts too much, since it’s connected to so many painful memories, at this point. With Maria, things are fresh and new and simple.
The magnetic connection between Michael and Alex has kept them coming back to each other for years, so I think it’s safe to say we haven’t seen the last of them. However, Michael and Maria are also developing something really interesting! Unfortunately, the deeper he gets with them both, it’s going to increase the chances of somebody getting really hurt. Especially since Maria and Alex are close friends. I can feel a really tumultuous love triangle coming on, and it could all be avoided if Michael just made a decision!
Some Rosa and Kyle family time
We recently learned that Liz isn’t the only Roswell, New Mexico character who’s lost a sister. It turns out, Rosa and Kyle have the same father, which makes them half siblings!
Kyle has been one of my favorite characters in Roswell, New Mexico and a like him a little more every time we learn something new about him. It would be cool to watch him develop a bond with Rosa, now that she’s back. It would also be great if Rosa got involved in all of the mysteries that Kyle’s been left with after his father’s murder.
What is that weird symbol?
Noah’s information dump included an intriguing tidbit about the symbol that Max has tattooed on his body. Apparently, it’s a map to their home planet. Unfortunately, they have no idea how to read it.
If Michael seriously wants to get back home, he just hit the jackpot, as long as he can figure it out. He’d better do it quick though, before the “thermobaric ordinance”/border wall around the world is built.
Real love for Isobel
At the beginning of Roswell, New Mexico, it looked like Isobel and Noah were serious #CoupleGoals. Then we learned about all of the lies and the fact that Noah was basically just using her to do his murderous bidding. Not ideal.
Related: Isobel just became Roswell, New Mexico’s most interesting character
Isobel has really fallen from grace in Roswell, New Mexico season 1. She’s gone from being the perfect girl, the perfect sister, and the perfect wife, to being pretty damn broken. She deserves to find real love in Roswell, New Mexico. Maybe Rosa will play a part in this, since she had a previous relationship with Isobel when she was Noah’s puppet.
What will Kyle do with Jesse Manes?
Kyle learned that Jesse Manes was responsible for his father’s death in the Roswell, New Mexico season 1 finale, and honestly, he didn’t take it too well. He now has Jesse Manes at his mercy, and I can’t wait to see what he does to make him pay. Hopefully Alex, Michael and Rosa all get involved in this decision as well.
