Our first look at the famous Final Fantasy 7 Remake cross-dressing scene is as precious as you thought it would be.
In the game’s story, Cloud joins Aerith as he goes undercover in a dress and wig to save Tifa from a mobster’s clutches. Donning a similar hairstyle to his own, with the addition of some cute pigtails, Cloud makes sure to get to Tifa before any harm can befall her.
23 years ago today the iconic #FinalFantasy VII was first released to the world, re-defining the RPG genre and capturing the hearts of millions.

As Cloud has his makeover, his beauty is revered. “Welcome to the Honey Bee Inn, Cloud. True beauty is an expression of the heart, a thing without shame to which notions of gender don’t apply. Perfection.”
The original Final Fantasy 7 cross-dressing scene didn’t show us a closeup look of the details of the dress-wearing Cloud, as his sprite was relatively tiny. Cloud’s small sprite looked convincingly feminine, as the NPCs heckling him around the club hit on him, describing him as a pretty girl.
As the male protagonists in the Final Fantasy series do tend to have softer, more feminine features, putting Cloud in a dress and wig feels like a breaking of the fourth wall of sorts. The game’s creators know how pretty they make their boys, and their near androgyny is both part of their appeal and unique flair.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake was recently delayed by a month, and a leaked demo of the title may explain why. The Midgar segment of the classic JRPG’s remaster will release on April 10, 2020.
