Looks like Mark Wahlberg will be teaming up with Tom Holland for his next big screen project.
According to Variety, actor Mark Wahlberg is currently in final talks to join the cast of Sony’s upcoming Uncharted adaptation.
Mark Wahlberg joins previously announced cast member Tom Holland, who’s been attached to star in the project for quite some time now.
Based on the popular video game series of the same name which first launched in 2007, the forthcoming adaptation follows along on treasure hunter Nathan Drake’s adventures as he sets out across the world to uncover historical mysteries.
Holland is set to play Nathan Drake in the film, while Wahlberg is currently in final talks to star as Victor “Sully” Sullivan.
Described as being both a mentor and a father figure to Nathan Drake, Sully is an American treasure hunter in addition to being a business man.
Other than Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, there aren’t any other actors currently attached to star in the project.
Though the Uncharted movie has been in the works for quite some time, production on the adaptation has hit a few snags.
Specifically, the film has gone through quite a few directors including Stranger Things helmer Shawn Levy, as well as director Dan Trachtenberg.
Now, it seems as though Sony has found the perfect man for the job in Travis Knight, who’s previous credits include directing Transformers offshoot, Bumblebee.
In addition to Knight, the studio has also tapped Rafe Judkins to write the script along with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
The last we heard, Sony had set a 2020 release date for their Uncharted adaptation, though there’s currently no word on when exactly the film will be hitting the big screen.
