A new TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi puts Luke into a familiar — and surprising — frame.
The punchy teaser, titled “Awake,” aired during tonight’s final game of the World Series. More than a few of the new shots surely sent a jolt of excitement through already-keyed-up baseball fans as, for a few seconds, the drama shifted from the green grass of Dodger Stadium to the galaxy far, far away.
And a few particularly familiar vistas, at that.
The Last Jedi TV spot opens with a fresh glimpse of the Millennium Falcon, and quickly moves to a long-awaited reunion — Luke striding through the dear ship in his cloak and hood.
Other new clips include a shot of Supreme Leader Snoke’s super, super red throne room. Snoke’s words echo the mood he clearly intends to impart.
“Darkness rises,” he intones from his throne, “and light to meet it.”
(Wow dude, emo much?)
Thrilling moments from The Last Jedi theatrical trailer are interspersed with other fresh glimpses, including Finn cheering from the seat of an X-Wing (yes, we all hope he’s riding shotgun with Poe). There’s also a new look at Leia in a sterile control room, looking as gloriously dignified as ever a General did, and a shot of the Millennium Falcon bursting out of the salt-crusted surface of Crete.

The trailer ends with a particular punch that is sure only to heighten the excitement for this new installment in the Star Wars saga. A sodden Luke repeats his now-famous line (“This is not going to go the way you think!”) but the object of his words might just be revealed.
Rey, standing in the rain, igniting her lightsaber.
Is this another misdirect? A glimpse at the mysterious truth of Rian Johnson’s crack at Star Wars? A dream?
There’s no way to know until December, but Star Wars? We’re totally ready to play ball.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on Dec. 15.
