Teen Wolf season 7 will likely never happen, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a million things we wish it could’ve given us.
Not a day goes by where I don’t think about Teen Wolf. Whether it’s the friends I’ve made or the tattoo I sport or the posters hanging on my wall, Teen Wolf has had a huge influence on my life.
We could tell the series was winding down long before the show officially ended, but that has never stopped fans from wondering what could have come next.
The hypothetical Teen Wolf season 7 would’ve been perfect for a new direction, and even though it might hurt a little to explore what we will never get, it’ll be nice to once again play around in this world for a little while.
7 things ‘Teen Wolf’ season 7 could have given us
A true Stydia relationship
Most Teen Wolf fans had very strong opinions about the relationships on the show, with several of our main characters having more than one impactful romance over the course of the series. One of the biggest slow-burn, what-if relationships was between Stiles and Lydia, and the final season gave us a confirmation of the love these two shared for each other.
Teen Wolf season 7 could have explored what a relationship between these two would’ve looked like now that high school was in their rear view mirror. The two had been through so much together that there was no doubt about their connection. But how would it have played out once they decided to make it official?
The two of them would likely have a long-distance relationship, but something tells me they’d still be able to make it work. However, it would’ve been nice to see them overcome obstacles, both natural and supernatural, together as a couple.
Some major returning characters
The Teen Wolf season 6 finale was a culmination of an entire final season worth of cameos and guest stars, but there were a few characters that we never got to see.
In particular, I would’ve loved to see both Isaac and Danny again. Isaac was a huge part of the show for a brief time, and it was tragic we didn’t get to say a proper goodbye following the season 3 finale. The same goes for Danny, who was certainly a secondary character but always have a huge place in our hearts.
Even more so, I would’ve loved to see Kira return. Arden Cho’s departure ahead of season 6 wasn’t easy to take, and her absence changed the direction of the show. To see her return once more to fight side by side with Scott would’ve been epic.
Another great cameo would’ve been Braeden. Teen Wolf season 7 certainly could’ve found a way to show her one more time, just like they did with Jennifer Blake. The last time we saw Braeden was in season 5 after a pretty crazy fight. I’d love to know what she’s been up to.
A passing of the torch
At the end of the final season, we know that Scott and the others will live their lives wherever that may take them and that Beacon Hills will always have its protectors. We know Liam and his friends still have a lot to learn, but they’ve also been studying the best of the best — the McCall pack.
Teen Wolf season 7 could’ve shown us what it was like for Scott to pass the torch to the younger generation. This idea was in its infancy in the series finale, but what does it look like in day-to-day practice? How would Liam continue to grow into his leadership role?
There was the idea, at some point, that Teen Wolf would phase out the older characters in favor of newer ones in order to keep the show fresh. It would have undoubtedly been difficult on fans of the originals, but also a perfect way to keep this world alive.
Our heroes exploring the real world
All of the main conflicts in Teen Wolf took place in Beacon Hills, even if our heroes sometimes traveled out of state. They learned a lot in that town, but by the time the series ended, it was clear they were ready to move on.
One of the most exciting prospects about our hypothetical Teen Wolf season 7 is that we could potentially follow Scott and the others into the real world. Much like Buffy or Veronica Mars, the show could give us our heroes attending college and dealing with more grownup issues.
The show could have kept them close to Beacon Hills or it could’ve taken them to an entirely new location. Each has their pros and cons, but regardless of where they ended up, it would’ve been nice to see them in a new light.
A whole new setting
Speaking of that whole new setting, a new season of the show could’ve really shaken things up if they had moved locations entirely. MTV had been bouncing back and forth around the end of the sixth season, and they had mentioned the possibility of both a spinoff and a podcast.
Regarding the podcast, Teen Wolf showrunner Jeff Davis remarked how cool it would be to follow Jackson and Ethan around London as they go on adventures. Jackson is a complicated character who ended up becoming a fan-favorite, and his reintroduction into the last season was something else.
If Teen Wolf season 7 were to ever hit our screens, London would be a fun new location for the show to explore. We’d get to see some old favorites while discovering quite a few new characters. Plus, there’s always that added complication of being a fish out of water to keep the show interesting.
A world in which everyone knows about the supernatural
By the end of Teen Wolf season 6, the whole town of Beacon Hills knew that the supernatural existed. Gerard Argent had mobilized them against our heroes in the hopes of wiping them all out, and while the townspeople certainly fell in line, a lot of what they thought they knew was actually misinformation.
Gerard was defeated in the final season (three cheers!), and while Beacon Hills had never really been a peaceful place, it did return to some semblance of normality. But that doesn’t mean people stopped knowing that the supernatural existed.
Teen Wolf season 7 could’ve had a plot that explored the idea that humans were aware of the supernatural and either chose to fight it or live with it. The show could’ve even brought Danny back as some sort of ambassador between the two factions. Living in peace would be a constant struggle, especially as knowledge spread, but it wouldn’t be impossible.
New mythological creatures
Teen Wolf always found a way to bring us some interesting surpernatural creatures. Sure, werewolves are pretty standard in this day and age, but what about the kanima and the nogitsune and the berserkers? They’re a little bit harder to come by.
One of my favorite things about the show was finding out what kind of mythology we’d be exploring in any given season. Japanese. Native American. Norwegian. The writers found ways to not only incorporate creatures into every episode, but the stories and folklore, too.
Teen Wolf season 7 could have gone in any direction, but my Greek mythology-loving heart would’ve loved to have seen them take on some truly legendary beasts. What would a gorgon or sphinx or siren look like in this world? I have a feeling they could have made them truly terrifying.
