‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ character posters show Death Star on diverse cast

Lucasfilm has released a batch of Star Wars: Rogue One character posters that offer new looks at the lead players and new details.

Rogue One, the first of several Star Wars spinoffs, is about two months away from hitting theaters, and more information about the movie is slowly but surely surfacing.

Last week, we were treated to a new Rogue One trailer that highlighted Jyn and her father’s relationship (the latter was taken away by the Empire).

Each of the character posters depicts the person with the plans for the Death Star shining on their face. It’s a reference to the film’s plot, though casual moviegoers who see the posters may not think anything of the details.

We’re embedding the tweets from the official Star Wars Twitter account, as they offer a couple of teases about each character:

The Star Wars: Rogue One characters depicted in the posters are Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones), Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen), K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), with Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen) and Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker).

According to a synopsis, “In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.”

The movie hits theaters December 16, 2016.
