Sense8 is coming back! To celebrate the fandom’s victory of convincing Netflix to bring it back for a two-hour special, we have eight things we want to see in the farewell.
The past few weeks have been one hell of an emotional rollercoaster for Sense8 fans around the world.
From waiting two years for a second season, to finding out there wasn’t going to be a third, and then finding out it was coming back, we’ve been through a lot.
Now we finally get to relax, stop protesting (or maybe not) and just daydream about what we’ll get to see in the two-hour series finale Netflix announced. Here’s our list of what we absolutely need to see in those final two hours.
Lila’s cluster VS Wolgang’s: Part two
One of the most frustrating parts about Sense8‘s season 2 finale was seeing Lila betray Wolfgang and give his location to Whispers. Because of this, Wolfgang was taken captive in a matter of seconds with Kala (after a beautiful devotion of love), and now he may face the same fate as the rest of Jonas and Whispers’ cluster: Death.
While our favorite sensates work together to find Wolfgang and save him from BPO I’m sure that one of them will run into Lila or someone from her cluster, and I’m seriously hoping for another epic battle.
The first cluster battle that we got to see in season 2 was so epic and badass that there’s got to be another — heck, at least one more. Given the amount of sensates we’ve met this past season and the all the others that Riley probably connected with at her concert, it’s not unlikely that they will have to fight more of them.
Cluster alliances
While I definitely want to see clusters fighting because of how intricate and badass it looks, I also want to see the alliances our Sensates have to keep growing.
We’ve only just begun to see the world of sensates that exist outside of Nomi, Lito, Kala, Wolfgang, Will, Riley Capheus and Sun. What we thought was a unique scientific anomaly at the start of the show two years ago has now become an entire species of the human race.
From Riley’s DJ concert to Capheus’ political rallies, they’ve already been exposed to so many other sensates around the world. The more sensates we find, the bigger chance we have of seeing them defeat BPO and get their lives back.
However, every cluster we’ve seen so far has been very hesitant to help other clusters and instead just warn them of the dangers they’re about to face, which speaks to the timidness of the homo-sensorium community. Maybe Angelica and Will’s clusters are the only ones to really try fighting against BPO and those hunting them down.
We’re hoping that in the finale we see more clusters actually trying to help instead of just trying to forewarn and scare off. Imagine the army of sensates that could be gathered if they just convince enough people to help.
An answer for Capheus’s political career
Capheus running for office is already dangerous considering his father was killed in a riot when he was in politics, and now he might share the same fate, according to new friends.
In the finale a bunch of sensates came to Capheus saying how dangerous it was to be a sensate and run for office. Apparently, no sane sensate would go to one of Capheus’ rallys without taking a blocker first. Does this mean Capheus is going to stop from running?
And if not, how is he going to deal with meeting new sensates every time he goes to rally for support? If he takes blockers then he’ll be disconnected from his own cluster, and for a politician that’s a lot of time to be spending away from family.
It’s clear that Capheus’ story was meant for the rumored 5 season arc the show was designed/planned for, so to be cancelled after only two seasons would seriously limit the closure we could get on this. I’m hoping that whatever they decide to do they end Capheus’ political arc in a satisfying way, whether he decides to run or not.
The fate for Sun’s brother
After a dangerously long chase through Seoul, Sun’s brother, Joong-ki, escaped custody and I have no idea how. The chase began when the authorities came to arrest him for fraud but then ended when the authorities just let him go with some politician.
This is a situation that people are divided on — should Sun have killed her brother, who definitely deserved it? Or was it a good thing that she let him live, so he could eventually pay for his actions? Even Sun was questioning the person she was, and if she should avenge her father or keep the promise to her mother to protect Joong-Ki.
Either way, we need to see Joong-Ki pay for what he did in the two-hour finale and ideally we’d also get to see Sun’s redemption. She began as a powerful business woman and we need to see her back where she belongs: At the top of her father’s company, kicking ass like she does.
Amanita & Nomi’s wedding
One of the most emotional parts of the Sense8 season 2 finale was seeing Amanita propose to Nomi only to find out Nomi was also planning on proposing with her own ring. It was beautiful, sappy and such a good ending for Nomi and Amanita’s arc throughout the season.
But that doesn’t mean their story has to end there! Thankfully we’ve been given the chance to see Amanita and Nomi actually get married, and that’s something that I definitely don’t want to leave to the imagination.
If they can squeeze in a wedding between finding Sun’s brother and saving Wolfgang and all the other crazy shit that’s been happening all season then the Sense8 fandom would probably just combust from pure joy.
Wolfgang & Kala’s first real kiss
Because of Lila’s betrayal we were robbed of this, and we need to see it happen! Kala was going to be on her way to Paris to spend time in the flat that her husband got her (let’s not even talk about that hot mess of a plot yet) and Kala wanted it to be “just for us,” when telling Wolfgang about it.
Now the sensates are all in the same place but Kala has yet to physically meet Wolfgang. It’s a little concerning when you think about the circumstances in which it has to happen now.
No matter what, Kala is going to see Wolfgang in pain when she first sees him, unless he manages to escape (which is highly unlikely). Let’s just hope that when she gets to kiss him it’s because he’s safe and in her arms and not because he’s met the same fate as Angelica or the rest of her cluster.
Cluster births: We need answers
There are so many questions that the fandom has concerning how clusters are born, and what that whole process is. The mythology of the show is incredibly complex, but some things just need to be explained before it ends.
When they reference Angelica giving birth to her cluster (and/or was it also Will’s cluster?) there’s images of her looking like she’s actually giving birth to a physical baby. What’s that about? It’s kind of like when Melisandre gave birth to the shadow demon that killed Renly Baratheon in Game of Thrones, except instead of a demon it’s a cluster of eight people’s minds.
And when a cluster is born, what is that exactly? These people are all still alive, but haven’t met each other until very recently, or I guess since their cluster was “born.” So when a cluster is born does that just mean their mental connection to others begins just then? Why does it look like an actual birth!?
Ww probably won’t get a lot of answers regarding the mythology of the show but we really hope we find out more about just the birthing process, just for the sake of our sanity.
Rajan’s investigation/Kala’s safety
This whole plot was very confusing and it seemingly came outta nowhere. Rajan’s investigation into these corrupt politics have now endangered his family and apparently his marriage, and we need to see where it ends.
Just how bad of a person is Rajan? He doesn’t seem inherently evil or malicious but it’s clear his choices in life are not ideal and his father’s status as a cocky, corrupt politician doesn’t help either.
Wolfgang was right. Both of the men in Kala’s life are connected to crime, but at least Wolfgang knows where his life leads. Rajan was blithely unaware of how dangerous his actions and his relations were, evidenced by his paranoia and enhanced security that he had to get after realizing it. He’s made a mess he can’t clean up, and now Kala could be in danger?
Here’s hoping that we get some clarification on Rajan’s future because right now he’s probably going to get everyone killed. He’s dealing with dangerous people he doesn’t know how to deal with.
