Ryan Gosling has found his next big screen starring role in director Duke Johnson’s The Actor.
According to Deadline, Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling has officially signed on to star in the upcoming action drama, The Actor.
Directed by Duke Johnson, the forthcoming film is based on author Donald E. Westlake’s book, Memory.
The story takes place in the 1950s and centers on an actor named Paul Cole who finds himself beaten and left for dead out in Ohio. Now stranded in a small town in the midwest with no memories to help guide him, Paul finds himself struggling to get home, all while attempting to piece together forgotten memories that will help guide him back to the life he had before his attack.
For his part, Gosling will star as Paul Cole in the forthcoming adaptation. In addition to starring in The Actor, Gosling will also serve as an executive producer one the project along with Ken Kao, Abigail Spencer, and Paul Young.
Duke Johnson, whose previous credits include helming 2015’s Anomalisa, will be directing from a script he co-wrote with Stephen Cooney.
The last time we saw Gosling on the big screen was when he starred as Neil Armstrong in La La Land director Damien Chazelle’s First Man.
It’s been two years since the aforementioned biographical drama hit the big screen, but Ryan Gosling fans can soon look forward to seeing more of the actor at the movies.
In addition to starring in The Actor, Gosling has a few other films coming down the pipeline.
Coming up next, he’s attached to star in director Leigh Whannell’s horror flick, Wolfman. Additionally, he’ll be starring opposite Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in The Russo Brothers’ action thriller, The Gray Man. Finally, Gosling is also attached to star in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s sci-fi flick, Project Hail Mary.
None of Gosling’s forthcoming starring features have release dates attached as of yet.
