Could Joss Whedon be making his way to the DC universe? Rumor has it that he may be directing the Flash/Supergirl musical crossover.
The musical crossover, which was announced at the TCAs, will be a two-part crossover featuring the highly musical casts of The Flash and Supergirl and will air in spring 2017.
The rumor comes from That Hashtag Show, the webseries that broke the casting news for the Netflix series Iron Fist, meaning there is some precedent for them having good information.

That Hashtag Show also claims that the villain of the crossover will be Music Meister, which was the common belief among fans after the musical crossover was announced. In the DC universe, Music Meister is a villain whose singing voice allows him to hypnotize others and, in the process, make them sing and dance.
Neil Patrick Harris (who starred in Dr. Horrible) voiced Music Meister in Batman the Brave and the Bold, where the character made his debut. Might we see him live action? That Hashtag Show sure hopes so but has no confirmation.
Whedon makes sense as a director for this highly-anticipated two-part project, considering he wrote and directed the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, “Once More, with Feeling.” He also co-wrote and produced the musical webseries Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and directed an episode of Glee.
Moreover, he has plenty of comic book experience, having directed the first two Avengers films. Additionally, he wrote a script for a Wonder Woman film that was eventually scrapped by Warner Bros.
Both Supergirl and The Flash feature musically-talented casts, including Glee alums and Broadway veterans.
