Sherlock Holmes is a singular mind, but Watson has become a crucial part of his life. He has grown enough to open himself up to taking someone else’s well-being into consideration and wants what is best for Watson.

Sheldon: “Hey, look at that. Even in your example you are all by yourself.”
When Sheldon does not get invited to a university weekend symposium, Sheldon laments to Amy about what it feels like being left out. Not to be outdone, Amy has enough lonely memories to counter Sheldon’s sullen mood.
