Kanye West is gearing up to try his hand at television.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, rapper Kanye West is working with Showtime to develop a new anthology series set in an alternate reality.
Titled Omniverse, the forthcoming limited series will be comprised of half hour long episodes. The move marks the “Ultralight Beam” artist’s first foray into the world of television.
West, who will serve as a producer on the project, has already lined up his first star in none other than fellow artist and actor Jaden Smith.
As part of the series, Smith is set to play a young version of West himself, except he’ll be portraying a West that exists in an alternate reality.

So what exactly is Omiverse about? Per the official synopsis, the Showtime anthology series is set to examine “the many doors of perception.”
First up, the series plans to use its first season to “explore ego through the alternate reality of West.”
In addition, Lee Sung Jin, who has officially boarded the project as a screenwriter, revealed a few more tidbits in a statement he released announcing his involvement in the series.
“I’m honored and thrilled to be collaborating with everyone involved to present an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be Kanye West,” said Jin, whose past credits include Silicon Valley and Netflix’s Tuca & Bertie.
“Omniverse is not set in our world nor about our world’s Kanye West as we aim to add a new spin on alternate realities, consciousness, and push the limits of half hour narrative.”
