The first trailer for M Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi epic After Earth starring Will and Jaden Smith has been released.
After Earth is set after a crash landing, where a father and son must explore a planet that was evacuated by humans 1,000 years earlier. In the trailer we see Will Smith and his son Jaden taking some deep breaths before their ship suffers an explosion and soars down to the ground. We then hear Will Smith’s character attempting to explain to his son that “fear is not real, it is a product of the thoughts that we create.”
He goes on to say that the danger is very real, but “fear is a choice” and Jaden must battle the elements and evolved beings that have perfected the art of killing humans. Will Smith’s character then reveals to his son that they are, in fact, on Earth.
Take a look at the trailer below:
Will Smith plays General Cypher Raige (lol) who returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (Jaden). But when an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash land on Earth, and with his father dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon.
After Earth is set for a June 7, 2013 release.
