A new Star Trek movie is coming down the pipeline at Paramount— and the studio has already found its screenwriter for the project in Kalinda Vasquez.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has recruited Kalinda Vazquez to pen the script for a brand new Star Trek movie currently in development.
Vazquez is no stranger to the world of Star Trek. In fact, the screenwriter has previously written on CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery series.

In addition, Kalinda Vazquez’s previous television credits also include Fear the Walking Dead (where she also served as co-executive producer), Marvel’s Runaways, Once Upon A Time, and Prison Break.
Others involved behind the scenes on Paramount’s forthcoming Star Trek movie include J.J. Abram’s production banner, Bad Robot, who will produce along with the studio.
The last movie in the beloved sci-fi franchise hit the big screen back in 2016.
Titled Star Trek Beyond, it starred Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock, respectively. The Justin Lin helmed flick found the crew of the USS Enterprise exploring the furthest reaches of uncharted space, and encountering a ruthless enemy who put them, and the Federation to the test.
Unfortunately, Trekkies curious to know what Vazquez’s script will focus on will have to wait. Plot details for the newest Star Trek movie are being kept firmly under wraps for the time being.
One thing we do know is that the film that’s being developed is said to be based on an original idea created by Vazquez herself.
