When asked about the multiple Joker films in development, Jared Leto admits to being as puzzled as we are.
Jared Leto plays the Joker — or one of them, anyway — in Warner Bros.’ DC Universe. It has recently been announced that not only is a Joker/Harley Quinn film in the works with Leto and Margot Robbie, but another solo Joker film is also in development, sans Leto.

Speaking to On Demand Entertainment (via The Hollywood Reporter), Leto admits:
“I’m a little confused … I love the Joker. He’s a great character and really fun character to play. But it’s a big universe and when you play the Joker, there’s no ownership there. You have the honor of holding the baton for a little while and then passing it off. There are other films that are in development and I’m excited to see what comes from them.”
Jared Leto is also set to reprise his role in the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel that will be written and directed by Gavin O’Connor.
The non-Leto standalone Joker movie will be developed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) and Scott Silver (8 Mile), and is set outside of DC’s Cinematic Universe.
