Phoebe Waller-Bridge is gearing up to star opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5!
There’s more Indiana Jones coming down the pipeline at Lucasfilm, and the next chapter of the famed archeologist’s story has already added a big name to its cast.
On Friday (April 9), Lucasfilm announced that Fleabag vet Phoebe Waller-Bridge has officially joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5.
Waller-Bridge joins Harrison Ford, who is set to return to reprise his role as the famed heroic titular character for the fifth installment of the franchise. Like Ford, Waller-Bridge is no stranger to the Lucasfilm family. The Emmy Award winner previously portrayed young Lando Calrissian’s favorite droid, L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge isn’t the only notable name to join the cast of Indiana Jones 5. In addition, today’s huge casting news also comes with word that prolific composer John Williams has also signed on to return to score the fifth film.
Williams has a long history with Indy, having first set music to the archaeologist’s adventures 40 years ago in Raiders of the Lost Arc.
Behind the camera, James Mangold has been tapped to serve as the film’s director. In addition, Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers on the project.
In a statement, Mangold spoke of how excited he is to be working with a “dream team” of individuals on Indianan Jones 5.
“Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as luck as Indiana Jones himself,” said Mangold.
Indiana Jones 5 is slated to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
