The follow-up to Disney’s Enchanted starring Amy Adams has hired a director who knows a thing or two about musicals: Adam Shankman.
The director of the 2007 Hairspray starring Zac Efron, John Travolta, Queen Latifah, and Nikki Blonsky will helm Enchanted 2 which is reportedly titled Disenchanted. According to THR, the plan is to get filming by summer 2017.
Amy Adams is “expected” to return. Details are still scarce about the movie’s plot, but hopefully the plan is to fill the movie with several unforgettable songs.

EW says of the sequel’s plot: “The new story is said to take place 10 years after Enchanted, as Giselle finds herself questioning her happily ever after and accidentally triggers events that make everyone’s lives turn upside down in both the real world and Andalasia.”
Shankman also directed Rock of Ages, Bringing Down the House, The Pacifier and Bedtime Stories. If his work on Hairspray is any indication (I’m obsessed with Hairspray), Disenchanted is in great hands.
Enchanted co-starred Patrick Dempsey and James Marden. At the moment we don’t know if they’ll be returning for the sequel.
