Let’s get down to business! Disney has dated their live-action Mulan for November 2, 2018.
The studio has also announced that a worldwide casting call is now underway to find a Chinese actress for the iconic Mulan role.
According to Deadline, the live-action Mulan “follows the rise of Mulan during the Han Dynasty when this daughter of a legendary warrior impersonates a man to fight against a Hun invasion.
“The new live-action film is combining the story of the ballad of the legendary Hua Mulan with the highly popular 1998 animated film, which carried the same name and made a whopping $304M worldwide at the box office.”
Disney’s live-action Mulan is part of a rapidly growing line-up of reimaginings by the Mouse House. Just last week they announced that a new Lion King was in the works with Jungle Book helemer Jon Favareu set to direct.
Tinkerbell, Genie, and Dumbo movies are also in development, amongst others!
It sounds like Disney is looking to cast an unknown for the leading role, which seems like a wise choice to us.
