Casting for Ava DuVernay’s Naomi series at The CW is picking up steam!
According to Deadline, actors Barry Watson, Mouzam Makkar, Mary-Charles Jones, Aidan Gemme, and Daniel Puig have all been cast in The CW’s newest DC series, Naomi.
Developed for the network by Emmy winner Ava DuVernay, the forthcoming series is based on the titular DC comics character and based on Bryan Michael Bendis and David F. Walker’s 2019 comic book series of the same name.
The series follows Naomi she moves “from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse.”
Per the show’s longline, “when a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.”
For the series, Watson (7th Heaven) will take on the role of Naomi’s adoptive father, Greg. Greg is a veteran military officer who takes his responsibilities at the town’s military base incredibly seriously.
Meanwhile, Makkar will play Naomi’s loving and doting adoptive mother, Jennifer. Jennifer also happens to teach linguistics at the same military base where her husband, Greg works.
Jones, Gemme, and Puig will all play classmates of Naomi’s, with Jones taking on the role of the titular character’s best friend, Annabelle. Gemme is on board to play Jacob, Annabelle’s loving boyfriend, while Puig will play Nathan, Naomi’s jealous ex-boyfriend.
Previously announced cast members include Alexander Wraith, Cranston Johnson, Camila Moreno, and Kaci Walfall, who will lead the cast as the series’ Naomi.
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Naomi debut on The CW.
