Cormoran Strike Book 6 release date, synopsis: Everything we know

Robert Galbraith and J.K. Rowling’s fictional detective series is hotter than ever, and there’s no end in sight. Here’s what we know about the next novel, Cormoran Strike Book 6!

The fifth book in the series, Troubled Blood, arrived in the fall of 2020 and was the longest book yet in the Cormoran Strike series. It received rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Now, fans are eagerly awaiting Cormoran Strike Book 6. When might it be released?

Like a good detective, there’s just enough evidence from author J.K. Rowling (aka Robert Galbraith) to tell us that it’s in the works: In April 2020, Rowling said on Twitter that she was currently “with” Cormoran Strike in a pub, and that the year was 2015:

Cormoran Strike Book 6 is expected to take place in 2015, so this tweet would suggest that Rowling has been writing the sixth novel since as early as Spring 2020. While she may have tweeted this before Troubled Blood was released, the fact is that the events of the fifth novel only run between 2013 and 2014.

The author has previously said that she intends for there to be many books in the Cormoran Strike series, so there’s no doubt that Book 6 is going to happen. It’s only a question of when.

Cormoran Strike novels have been on a pretty bumpy release schedule since the first one, The Cuckoo’s Calling, was secretly published in 2013.

The sequel titled The Silkworm was published in 2014 and Career of Evil arrived in 2015. However, it took three years for Lethal White to be published in 2018, and then another two years for Troubled Blood to be published in 2020.

Taking into account the fact that Rowling is also juggling writing of the Fantastic Beasts film series — and perhaps some other books — one can assume that Cormoran Strike Book 6 may not arrive until 2022 or 2023 at the earliest.

Beyond Book 6, Rowling is expected to write at least a couple more Cormoran Strike books before wrapping up the beloved whodunit series.

Rowling’s tweet is certainly a good sign that the book will be coming sooner rather than later, but we simply can’t be sure about a release date until we see an official announcement.

This article will stay up-to-date with the latest news concerning the sixth mystery for Cormoran and company. Presumably Rowling will offer additional hints about the progress on the book on her Twitter account or on her official website. Stay tuned!
