Bloodshot, Vin Diesel’s newest action flick, is the latest movie heading for an early digital release.
Like many other movies, Bloodshot — which just opened in theaters this past Friday (March 13) — will be made available for purchase early in light of the current coronavirus pandemic.
The movie, which also stars Eliza Gonzalez (Godzilla v. Kong) and Outlander’s Sam Heughan, finds Diesel starring as a fallen soldier who finds himself equipped with superpowers after he’s re-animated.

Bloodshot raked in a meager $9.1 million at the box office on its opening day — a figure likely to be unsurprising given the current worldwide pandemic.
Word of the movie’s early digital release also comes hot on the heels of yesterday’s news that AMC, Cinemark, Regal, and a handful of other large theater chains had chosen to temporarily shut down in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As much fun as it is to see an action movie on the big screen, we’re sure Vin Diesel fans will welcome the opportunity to check out Bloodshot in the comfort of their own homes while responsibly practicing social distancing, and/or abiding by the numerous mandatory quarantines that have been announced across the world over the course of the last few days.
Those who are interested in watching Bloodshot will be able to purchase the film beginning next week for the retail price of $19.99
In a statement sent to Deadline announcing their decision to release the movie early across digital platforms, Sony chairman Tom Rothman said: “This is a unique and exceedingly rare circumstance where theaters have been required to close nationwide for the greater good and Bloodshot is abruptly unavailable in any medium. Audiences will now have the chance to own Bloodshot right away and see it at home, where we are all spending more time. We are confident that— like other businesses hit hard by the virus— movie theaters will bounce back strongly, and we will be there to support them.”
Sony and Columbia Pictures’ Bloodshot isn’t the only movie arriving on digital early in light of the coronavirus.
Other titles you’ll very soon be able to stream from home include Universal’s The Invisible Man, The Hunt, and Emma.
In addition, Warner Bros’ Birds of Prey will also hit video-on-demand services early in light of recent movie theater closures.
You can purchase Bloodshot digitally on March 24.
