Antonio Banderas will soon be sharing the silver screen with Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones 5.
According to Deadline, Disney and Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones 5 has found its newest cast member in none other than Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas.
Today’s big casting news doesn’t come equipped with details about who Banderas will play in the next installment of the iconic franchise. Also being kept under wraps are specifics regarding the plot of the film.
Banderas isn’t the only notable name set to star in the famed, whip-cracking archaeologist’s next big adventure.
Also on board to join Ford for Indiana Jones 5 is none other than Emmy winning Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, as well as Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen.
Others who’ve also recently been cast in the forthcoming action flick include Logan vet Boyd Holbrook and Black Panther alum Shaunette Renee Wilson.
As with Antonio Banderas’ role, details surrounding who Waller-Bridge, Holbrook, Wilson, and Mikkelsen will play are being kept shrouded in secrecy for the time being.
Behind the camera, James Mangold has been tapped to serve as the film’s director. In addition, Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers on the project.
Also returning is prolific composer, John Williams, who will once again score Indy’s heroic adventure.
Production on Indiana Jones 5 is expected to kick off later on this summer, with the film intended for release on the big screen next year on July 29, 2022.
