If you had any doubts about the power of the Pokémon brand + mobile devices, look no further than the massive interest in the upcoming 3 v 3 battle game.
As the Pokémon Masters release date approaches, hype over the mobile game is quickly rising. Players are eager to battle famous Gym Leaders and star Trainers from all of the Pokémon games’ Generations, and that passion shows in the pre-registration numbers released by developer DeNA along with The Pokémon Compay.
DeNa revealed the staggering pre-registration numbers in a PR teasing the coming Pokémon Masters release. “The highly-anticipated mobile game Pokémon Masters has surpassed 5 million preregistrations worldwide across Android and iOS devices,” says the release.
With the success of Pokémon GO, The Pokémon Company is likely eager to continue their major influx of trainers seeking to catch them all with additional casual Pokémon mobile games. As Pokémon Masters seems to be catered toward a mix of casual and hardcore fans, only time will tell which camp settles in to play this free-to-start turn-based battle game.
“Pokémon Masters is a strategy and battling game where players form teams of sync pairs (the combination of a Trainer and their partner Pokémon) to engage in 3-on-3 real-time battles against AI opponents,” reads the PR. “The game takes place in an all-new location, the island of Pasio, where Trainers and their partner Pokémon from every known Pokémon region will gather to compete.”
Pokémon Masters was announced alongside Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon Home, two new expansions to the Pokémon universe that focus on quality of life improvements for trainers. Home will be a new mobile app hub for players of Let’s Go, Pokémon GO, and the 3DS games to deposit and access all of their Pokémon, while Sleep will tie-in to Pokémon GO in some pretty bizarre ways.
Players on Android and Apple iOS devices can pre-register for the mobile game, thus ensuring that their mobile devices will automatically download the title as soon as it hits. Pokémon Masters releases August 29, 2019.
