There’s another familiar face joining the cast of The CW’s highly anticipated Roswell, New Mexico.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actress Riley Voelkel has officially scored a recurring role on The CW’s new mid-season drama, Roswell, New Mexico.
Voelkel will be playing a character called Cameron on the series where it sounds like she’ll be sharing quite a bit of screen time with Max. Cameron is described as Max’s “quick-witted partner at the Sherrif’s Department who has the rare ability to break through Max’s stony cowboy facade.”
Additionally, her character is described as “scrappy, sexy, cool” and as “a realist who can handle whatever life throws her way.”
News of Voelkel’s casting is bound to sit especially well with fans of The Originals, where she’s been playing the role of Freya Mikaelson.
She’s not the only alumn from The Originals heading over to Roswell. The new series, which comes from Originals scribe Carina Adly Mackenzie, has also recruited Originals and Vampire Diaries alumn Michael Trevino to play Kyle Valenti.
Additionally, fellow Originals co-star Nathan Parsons is set to play Max.
Based on the book series Roswell High, which also inspired showrunner Jason Katims’ hit ’90s TV series of the same name, Mackenzie’s Roswell, New Mexico will focus on an older Max and Liz.
In the CW’s latest iteration of the tale, Liz (Jeanine Mason) is a daughter of undocumented immigrants who returns to her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico where she reconnects with her high school crush Max.
Soon, Liz discovers Max, who now works as a police officer in town, has been hiding a pretty big secret of his own.
Fans excited for the upcoming reboot will have to wait a bit longer before they’re able to check out the first episode. The series isn’t set to premiere until next year as part of The CW’s mid-season lineup.
You can check out the first official trailer for the series, which dropped just last month at San Diego Comic-Con, below.
