Anna Kendrick fans will no longer have to worry about heading out to the movie theater to see the Pitch Perfect star play Santa’s daughter in Disney’s Noelle.
Instead, it’s looking like Disney’s got other plans for the holiday flick!
On Thursday (March 1), Disney revealed that they were planning to move some titles around on their release calendar.
The news came with a few big shake-ups, including one that made Marvel fans in particular quite happy.
While fans of The Avengers were ecstatic to find out that Infinity War would officially be premiering one week earlier than expected, it wasn’t all good news.
As part of the switch-up, the studio revealed that they’d pushed back their highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Mulan from its original release date of November 2, 2018, to March 27, 2020.
While Kendrick’s upcoming holiday flick Noelle didn’t suffer a set back, the company is still looking to switch gears a bit with the release for the movie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the plan is to nix a theatrical release for Noelle, and instead debut Kendrick’s new film on Disney’s new streaming service.
The film, which will find Kendrick playing Santa’s daughter and taking over the family business after her dad retires, was originally set to premiere on November 8, 2019.
There’s no word yet on wether Disney will keep its original release date and merely debut it on that same day via their streaming platform.
Either way, it’s a very interesting move for the studio, and we’ll be curious to see what this means for future releases— especially after Disney officially launches their new streaming service, set to debut sometime this year.
