Plot details are still under wraps for Wolverine 3, but it’s expected to follow Old Man Logan, and now we may have our first look at the aged-up character.
There’s been no official confirmation that Wolverine 3 will show us Old Man Logan, but Jackman has hinted at the possibility, and the reveal of the movie’s villains have also pointed us in that direction.
We also know the film will be rated R and that it’s probably Patrick Stewart’s last reprisal of Professor X.
On Wednesday, Jackman posted a picture of himself about to sit down to a nice fish dinner. The actor’s appearance has sparked much speculation about whether or not he’s done up to look like Old Man Logan.
Wolverine: Old Man Logan is an eight-issue comic book series set in a time when supervillains have conquered the United States, dividing the area amongst themselves. All the heroes have either been defeated or are in hiding. For his part, Logan is living with his wife and kids.
Needing money and encountering an old, blind Hawkeye, Logan travels across the States to help the other former-hero deliver a mysterious package. Along the way, they encounter more than their fair share of bad guys.
The story shows off an apocalyptic landscape where heroes are few and far between. Logan has refused to unleash his claws and believes his alter ego as Wolverine died long ago. It’s a dark and deadly story, so the R rating makes sense if this is the direction the film will be going in.
Of course, don’t expect Hawkeye to show up in this adaptation. Just because Fox and Marvel are working together on Legion doesn’t mean they’ll be sharing characters on the big screen any time soon.
