It’s mid-September, which means that it’s once again time for the Primetime Emmy Awards. The 2013 Emmys air tomorrow night, so we’ve come up with a list of things we’re the most excited to see.
As much as we care about our favorite shows and actors winning the awards they deserve, we can’t help but get excited for all of the other aspects of the show. After all, the moments and events we remember most about awards shows like the Emmys happen in between the award speeches and frequent commercials.

Here are the five things that we’re looking forward to most at the 2013 Emmys.
Neil Patrick Harris hosting
How could we NOT be excited about the fact that Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 2013 Emmys? He’s just so legen… wait for it… DARY. NPH plans on being onstage for the majority of the show, so we can expect quite a few one-liners and physical gags. Above all, though, we’re most excited for his song-and-dance routine(s). While he promises that he will be in at least one musical performance, we’re crossing our fingers for multiple.
Elton John’s Tribute to Liberace
An Elton John performance is always a cause for celebration. We’re particularly excited about this performance because he’s doing a tribute to Liberace. Sir Elton is such an energetic and enthusiastic musician when performing his own songs, so we’re excited to see what he does with Liberace’s music. Also, since the 2013 Emmys marks the first time he has ever performed at a Primetime Emmy Award ceremony, we know it’s going to be classy, yet a bit over the top. No matter what happens though, his performance is definitely going to be a memorable one.
The Cory Monteith and James Gandolfini tributes
Looking forward to seeing the 2013 Emmys’ tribute video is kind of like a double-edged sword. On the one hand, we’re still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that some of our favorite TV icons have passed. On the other hand, award ceremonies usually do a wonderful job with remembering and celebrating the lives of such influential people. Though quite a few notable TV icons passed away this past year, we’re most interested in seeing Cory Monteith and James Gandolfini’s tributes. They both had such an impact on television, and we’re looking forward to celebrating their lives and achievements.
Carrie Underwood’s performance
Carrie Underwood is a fantastic performer. Her performance of “Blown Away” and “Two Black Cadillacs” at the most recent Grammys was astounding (and she didn’t even move at all throughout her whole performance). While it was the projections on her dress that captured our attention, it was her voice that put us in a trance. Even though she’s singing a 1960s medley during a tribute to two important world events, we know that her 2013 Emmys performance will be no less stunning. The ’60s was such a wonderful time for music. We can’t wait to hear what she’ll be singing!
The wide variety of fashion choice
Awards shows always bring out the best (and worst) in people when it comes to fashion. If wearing a shag rug or a dress made out of cords makes a star happy, the more power to them. However, we’re still going to judge whether or not we like their ensemble or appreciate the designer’s vision. We’re also curious if any of the stars of the Emmy-nominated Liberace biopic, Behind the Candleabra (or even Elton John, for that matter), will choose to dress like Liberace. He had such a unique style that we’d be a little disappointed if nobody paid homage to him.
