2015 has been a big year for pop culture, which means this Halloween is going to be the best one yet. Why? Because of all of the awesome pop culture-inspired costume possibilities, of course!
Whether you’re a fan of viral videos and photos or stick to popular TV and movies, 2015 has so many different Halloween costume ideas to offer you.
Pizza Rat
Costumes don’t get much easier than this. Don some gray clothing (sweats are a great choice), put on some rodent ears, and paint some whiskers on your face. Oh, and you’re definitely going to need some pizza. That’s the best part of this costume! You can eat all of the pizza you want and nobody can judge you because you need it for your costume.
And if you ever run across someone who somehow isn’t aware of Pizza Rat? As a backup, just point at yourself and say, “I’m a mouse, duh!” (If they don’t understand that reference, it’s up to you if you want to slap them or not.)
Peggy Carter
2015 has been Peggy Carter’s year. She got her very own show, she starred in a comic series, got her own Funko Pop… Who better to dress up as for Halloween than Agent Carter? The good news is that since we’ve seen so much of Peggy Carter, there are so many different outfits to choose from! Oh but hey, whatever getup you decide to go with for your Peggy Carter costume, don’t forget the red lipstick. Like it does for Peggy, it’ll make you look fierce.
Daredevil
For a while there, Daredevil was the only thing anyone could talk about. The chatter about the avocados at law may have died down but, if you don a Matt Murdock or Daredevil Halloween costume, you’ll get people talking all over again. Both costumes are easy enough. For Matt Murdock, grab a nice suit, some round red-tinted glasses, and something to pass as a walking cane. For Daredevil, definitely go the season 1 route; grab some black pants, a black long-sleeve spandex shirt, black gloves, and a black bandana. Oh, and don’t forget a few wooden dowel rods and black boots!
Kamala Khan
All hail Ms. Marvel! We’ve seen SO many great Ms. Marvel cosplayers this year that we can’t help but encourage people to dress up as her for Halloween as well! Want to transform yourself into Kamala Khan? You’ll need a red long sleeve shirt (spandex if you can), red leggings, a blue dress or long t-shirt, some yellow material (for your lightning bolt and accents), a red scarf, a blue mask (which you could probably find at the dollar store or your local party store), blue boots, and a gold cuff. Oh, and you’ll need a bubbly personality. You can’t forget that! :)
Any ‘Star Wars’ character
Given the fact that The Force Awakens comes out in December, Star Wars is all the rage right now (as are Star Wars Halloween costume ideas). The good news is that you can’t go wrong with wanting to dress up as any of the characters. The bad news is that a lot of their costumes can be pretty involved. For Star Wars Halloween costumes, I say cheat a little. Might I suggest buying a men’s or women’s onesie from Target? They’re cool AND practical. Or how about some HerUniverse gear, like their Han Solo or R2D2 dresses? If you want to go the totally DIY Halloween costumes route, then hit up your local Goodwill. I’m sure you’ll be able to find just what you need to be a Jedi or Han Solo. (Perhaps don’t go the Slave Leia route, though. It may be a bit chilly outside for that.)
Gender-bent ‘Twilight’
Gender-bent Twilight is an official thing now. (Not that people probably weren’t doing it before.) Show everyone how up on the times you are by dressing as either Edythe or Beau from Life and Death. Haven’t read the book yet? That’s okay! Simply imagine how Bella would dress if she was a male and how Edward would dress if he was a female and you’re probably pretty spot on! Since Life and Death, Beau, and Edythe are still so new pop culture-wise, you might want to slap on a “Hello, my name is…” sticker for good measure.
Kimmy Schmidt
Kimmy Schmidt and her can-do attitude is definitely one of the best things to come out of 2015. When it comes to the best Halloween costume ideas for 2015, put Kimmy Schmidt on your short list. The best part about dressing up as Kimmy is that she wears average (albeit brightly-colored) clothes that you can find easily in your closet, a friend’s closet, or a store like Forever 21! I highly suggest the yellow cardigan and pink pants outfit, but feel free to wear whichever outfit speaks to you (including Kimmy’s mole woman dress)!
