The nominations for the 2013 Writers Guild Awards have been announced, with Looper, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Master getting bumps in their Oscar chances.
Only writers who are members of the Writers Guild of America are eligible for the awards, so Oscar-contenders such as Amour, Anna Karenina, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, The Impossible and Les Miserables were not taken into consideration.
Taking into account films that should get a major bump in the Oscar race for screenwriting, Moonrise Kingdom can be added to that list as well. It will be interesting to see whether these films can hold on to Oscar nominations when ineligible scripts enter the fray. Below are nominations in the Original, Adapted and Documentary categories for the 2013 Writers Guild Awards, which will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013.
