A new season of The Walking Dead is about to go into production, so you know what that means: More superlatives touting what’s in the future.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, co-star Norman Reedus (who plays fan favorite character Daryl) says that season 5 is going to be moving at a fast pace.
“From what I know, it’s gonna be just completely insane,” he says. “I sort of knew I needed like a good month to rest to jump in. The storyline they’re throwing me is a thousand miles an hour.”
While these comments are nice to hear, the problem is that we frequently hear from the cast (like Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick) who like to say how exciting and fast-paced the show is going to get… and then it doesn’t. One common complaint about The Walking Dead is that episodes often move quite slow.

Reedus also spoke about working with showrunners Scott M. Gimple and Robert Kirkman who keep secrets close to the vest. “Those guys are very good at telling you a bunch of stuff, and you sit there for an hour and you walk away and go, ‘What the hell did he just say? What’s going on?’ They’re very good at masking what they want to tell you.”
The Walking Dead season 4 finale aired in March, and season 5 is expected to premiere in October this year. By the time San Diego Comic-Con rolls around this summer, we should be treated to a trailer.
