It doesn’t take long for us to get the story of Lucien’s siring, and we can only imagine the story of Tristan’s is next on the docket. Find out what happened in tonight’s episode of The Originals season 3.
‘The Originals’ season 3, episode 3, ‘See You in Hell or New Orleans’ recap
We knew Lucien was up to no good last week, but when we met Tristan in tonight’s episode, we weren’t sure which we should be more afraid of. Check out our recap of tonight’s episode, and make sure to let us know what you thought of The Originals season 3, episode 3 in the comments below.
‘Lucien’s 2 out of 3. I say we put him down, for old time’s sake.’ (Klaus)
Elijah and Klaus have a nice little talk in which we learn a bit more about the history of Lucien, Aurora, and Tristan. You see, Lucien loved the Lady Aurora back in the day, and he begged Klaus to pass her a note. Klaus was already hooking up with Lucien’s potential lady love, so he talked the young squire out of it. When Lucien stumbled upon them kissing while she was supposed to be praying, Lucien melted down, screaming and attracting the guards as well as Aurora’s protective older brother, Tristan. Klaus escaped before the men arrived, and Lucien was definitely in some trouble.
Elijah and Klaus realize that Lucien could tick boxes both ‘friend’ and ‘foe’ in the prophecy, so their future murderers remain unclear. The ‘family’ line has them paranoid enough anyway, so Elijah talks Klaus into paying Lucien a little visit. After they visit Lucien’s and talk with his seer-friend, Elijah learns that Lucien has some sort of plan for Cami, and Marcel’s status, as either friend or family, is up for debate as well. Elijah finds Marcel’s loft scattered with unconscious vampires, and Josh tells him about the god-like lady that accosted them. This leads Elijah straight to Arya, who we learn has been sired by him.
‘Vincent, he is not going to kill me in the middle of a police precinct.’ (Cami)
Lucien compels Detective Kinney to let him talk to Cami, and Vincent insists on accompanying her. Lucien tells them the story, which we see in flashback, of his punishment at the hands of Tristan. Tristan flogged him bloody, then used a knife to open his mouth from ear to ear. Klaus helped Lucien afterward, accidentally fed him his blood, and PRESTO! Lucien was healed. Klaus had no idea his blood could do that at the time, so Lucien thought himself a vampire. He ran out to get revenge on Tristan, and was run through with a spear. He died, but because he had Klaus’ blood in his system, he became Klaus’ first sire. They didn’t discover his vampire status until he awoke just as they were preparing to burn his body.
Detective Kinney arrives after story time to let them know that a murder took place while they had Lucien in custody, so he is not a suspect at this time.
BTW, Lucien believes Tristan is behind these murders, and the trademark mouth wounds are his signature.
‘I never could resist a good spoiler.’ (Elijah)
(There isn’t much to say about this line from Elijah, but it’s a damn good one and we couldn’t well leave it out, could we?)
‘We tried to get rid of her, and boom, Smackdown City, which you can see went quite well.’ (Josh)
So, this Arya chick who just kind of showed up on Marcel’s doorstep was sired by Elijah. As to what she is truly capable of, that remains to be seen. She nabbed Marcel, and lets him in on her plans. She takes him home to meet her friends and tells him she is a part of the Stricts, of whom Tristan is the leader. We then see that Tristan is indeed present in the New Orleans area. Now we just need one more Original sire until we get progeny BINGO. (And yes, ALL of Elijah’s vampire progeny dress in suits. Every. Last. One. It’s remarkable.)
‘Brother, if you ever desire reconciliation with me, stay your hand.’ (Elijah, again.)
Elijah tells Klaus about the weapon, and they decide that once they have the weapon in hand, they will destroy both Lucien and Tristan. During their talk, Klaus admits, rather verbosely, that he was a bit unreasonable with his actions of late. Klaus promises Elijah, “You will never fall by my hand.” Elijah does not make such assurances back, but does not rebuke him either.
At the end of the episode, Marcel is feeling unappreciated, Cami is still in search of the killer, Tristan shows up at the latest murder scene with a smile on his face, and Aurora killed all the monks at her little retreat, and is on her way to New Orleans. Sounds like fun for next week, huh?
ALSO OF NOTE
Davina was mighty quiet in this episode. We can only hope that whatever she’s got cooking is good. We love our resident Lady Regent.
