Barry had a date, Joe investigated an old crime scene and things got nuclear on the latest episode of The Flash.
Love Game
Barry goes on a date with Linda Park, but Cisco and Joe keep calling him about crimes happening in the city. He has to leave with each call, but luckily he makes it in time for the date again after each one.
Luckily he gets a second date, but unluckily for him it’s at the same time that Wells and Caitlin are having a stakeout on Mrs. Stines’ house. However, Barry is allowed to go to the date regardless of Wells’ plans. He made a ton of plans for the night, but Linda decides she wants to stay home with him. Giggity. He gets worried about moving too fast and is really nervous about it, but when Caitlin texts he awkwardly runs out on Linda.
Linda is pissed, and wants to give Barry another chance. But when Barry apologizes he gets called again and has to run off. Linda asks Iris what his last girlfriend was like, and if Barry has ever dated before. Iris tells Linda that he just needs time, and that he loved someone that didn’t love him back. Linda figures it out, clearly, and calls Barry to break it off.
Barry shows up to the newspaper to talk to Iris and wants to know why she told Linda about them. He tells Iris that he doesn’t have any feelings for her anymore. Iris is clearly hurt by this, because awww.
To prove he wants to date Linda really badly, Barry manages to get the world’s hottest pepper and says if she doesn’t agree to go on another date he’ll eat it then and there. She thinks he’s bluffing so he eats it anyway, causing him oh so much mouth pain, and she finally agrees.
Spliced
Ronnie goes to visit Quentin Quail, a scientist, and it turns out it’s not Ronnie but rather Martin Stines. He asks the scientist for help but then he accidentally bursts into flames and chars the guy.
In a flashback, Barry remembers his first time meeting Martin on the train to the particle accelerator event. Stines is shown dropping his suitcase, which says F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M., causing him to blend with Ronnie.
Wells and Barry go to talk to Martin’s wife to ask if she’s seen Ronnie, and she says yes. She thought someone was watching her, and remembers Ronnie coming in and saying weird things about who he used to be. They decide to stake out her house and lo’ and behold: Ronnie/Stine comes over and they call Barry to help get him to Star Labs. They’re able to chase him down but lose him in the end.
Luckily, they were able to find him using a tracker Barry planted on him during the fight. They take Martin’s wife to visit him where he’s living as a hobo, and she convinces him to let them help.
Wells says that it’s theoretically possible to split Ronnie and Stines, but it’s going to be very difficult. They do tests and realize his temperature is rising. Wells explains that Ronnie’s body is rejecting Stines and the atoms aren’t mixing well, so if the temperature rises he could go nuclear. He says that any attempt they make to separate Ronnie and Stines would mean that he would erupt and explode, leveling the city. Wells says that the only way to stop it would be to kill the host body, meaning killing Ronnie and Stines, but Caitlin tries to convince him to use the couple of hours they have to separate them.
Wells plans on using a piece from the Tachyon device as a quantum splicer, which could separate Ronnie and Stines, but then Stines disappears. They find him in the badlands, and manage to make the quantum splicer so Barry can run it to him, and he takes Caitlin with him. She manages to attach the splicer to Ronnie but is unable to separate him before he detonates.
The Investigation Continues
Joe calls Cisco for his help on Barry’s mother’s case and they end up going back to Barry’s old house where the murder happened. Joe wants Cisco’s help to re-examine the crime scene to figure out who did it, and when they arrive there’s a hot single lady living alone there who lets them in.
Cisco uses a device he calls superlight to see what could be in the room that they didn’t notice before, and he finds a chemical compound on the back of the mirror that used to be in the room. He says that the two Flashes that were there might have generated enough light to imprint photos onto the mirror, so they take the mirror to study it.
Cisco is able to develop the photos using science and for some reason turns them into 3D holograms instead. It sends their attention to the wall, where they discover blood behind the wallpaper… that they never ever saw before the investigation.
They discover that there’s two types of blood on the wall and at the precinct lab Cisco gets ready to run the DNA against the criminal database, but then Joe asks him to check to see if it matches Wells. Cisco, understandably, gets offended because Wells has helped him out so much and leaves, but Joe trusts him to keep his suspicions a secret.
At the end of the episode Cisco runs the blood and calls Joe to tell him it was Barry’s blood on the wall that night, but not 11 year old Barry’s. Instead it was adult Barry’s blood.
