The Flash movie is still looking for its female lead, and that might end up being Kiersey Clemons.
It’s no surprise that Director Rick Famuyiwa may be looking to add Clemons to The Flash, considering the two of them worked together on Dope, the story of a geek named Malcolm who went to an underground party and found himself roped into a Los Angeles adventure.
The news comes via Variety, who says there’s no confirmation on who Clemons could be playing, although Iris West is a strong possibility.
As many Flash fans know, The CW already has their own Barry and Iris, played by Grant Gustin and Candice Patton, respectively. The two grew up together as a result of Barry’s mother’s death and his father’s subsequent incarceration. They became best friends, with Barry developing more romantic feelings for Iris than she initially displayed.
Famuyiwa is a newcomer to the project, in that he replaced the previous director, Seth Grahame-Smith, who left due to creative differences. Pre-production has continued forward with Grahame-Smith’s script, and filming is expected later this year.
Clemons is best known for her character Diggy on Dope, but she also starred in MTV’s short-lived Eye Candy as Sophia, as Bianca on Transparent, and most recently as Beth in Neighbors 2.
The Flash movie stars Ezra Miller, who made a brief cameo in Batman v Superman like many of his fellow Justice League superheroes. We’ll be seeing Miller first in Justice League Part One come November 2017, and then in his solo outing in March 2018.
Fans have made it known that they’re not huge fans of the separate television and movie universes when it comes to DC’s properties. Marvel does such a fantastic job of keeping their small and big screen adaptations connected that many fans have called for DC to do the same.
Plus there’s that little issue of many viewers falling in love with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and not wanting to see anyone else pick up the role. But if Gustin can be happy about it, so can we:
