DC’s The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller will likely be postponed as director Rick Famuyiwa departs the project.
It looks like The Flash movie is stuck in reverse, again, as Rick Famuyiwa has chosen to exit the film. The Dope director took over the project in June, after screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, who also cited creative differences, decided to step down.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Famuyiwa explains his decision:
“When I was approached by Warner Bros. and DC about the possibility of directing The Flash, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day. I was also excited to work with Ezra Miller, who is a phenomenal young actor. I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor and heart. While it’s disappointing that we couldn’t come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity. I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical and multicultural point of view. I wish Warner Bros., DC, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and Ezra Miller all the best as they continue their journey into the speed force.”
Rick Famuyiwa most recently directed Confirmation starring Kerry Washington. We’ll look forward to seeing his work in the future!

The Flash was originally slated for a March 16, 2018 release date, with a production start of March 2017.
But with its second director departure, THR explains that DC will likely postpone the movie, as they did for Wonder Woman when Michelle MacLaren left; she was later replaced by Patty Jenkins.
Ezra Miller made his debut as Barry Allen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and also appeared in this summer’s Suicide Squad. We’ll next see him in Justice League – Part 1, which premieres on November 17, 2017.
