Richard Ayoade’s The Double was a hit at The Toronto Film Festival in 2013 and today there’s a new trailer featuring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska.
The Double features a talented cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, who stars in the film as a young man who is ignored by just about everyone he cares for.
His character, Simon, has his life turned upside down when he runs into James Simon, also played by Eisenberg, who looks exactly like him. The difference being is that he’s the complete opposite in every way possible.

The film is being called a “comedy thriller” and we see an eerie side of Simon in this new trailer. The film was a hit at TIFF and, while it won’t get a wide release, we imagine it’ll reach most major cities.
Read the official synopsis for The Double: “Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon’s exact physical double and his opposite — confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon’s horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.”
Jesse Eisenberg is back after a small hiatus since his incredible role in The Social Network as Facebook’s creator Mark Zuckerberg. He also shined in his role as magician J. Daniel Atlas in 2013’s Now You See Me, which recently had a sequel announced.
His most anticipated role though is certainly the recent announcement that he’s been cast in the highly coveted role of Lex Luthor in Warner Bros. Batman Vs Superman movie. The film has become a massively star-studded affair, with Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot recently signing on to play Wonder Woman.
The Double’s release date is set for May 9, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mia Wasikowska, Yasmin Paige, Wallace Shawn, Noah Taylor, Cathy Moriarty, James Fox, Chris O’Dowd, Sally Hawkins and Craig Roberts. The film will arrive in the U.K. a month earlier on April 4.
