The first trailer for the Jim Jarmusch-helmed zombie flick, The Dead Don’t Die, is here and it is some seriously wacky, undead fun.
Zombies have long been utilized by authors and filmmakers to make an important, poignant point about a failing of modern society, so quite often, zombie movies and shows can skew towards the serious. However, Jim Jarmusch is leaving the serious zombie stories behind in his latest flick, The Dead Don’t Die. The hilarious, star-studded trailer dropped, and we’ve been obsessed with it since our first watch.
The Dead Don’t Die explores a world that is plagued with the dead rising from their graves. It’s up to cops from the small town of Centerville to do what they can to save their town from the undead, zombies, or as Adam Driver calls them:

But not only does this movie look to be smart and funny while also expressing love for the zombie genre, it’s got an amazing cast on both the living and the undead side of things. In addition to Bill Murray and Adam Driver who play Centerville police officers Cliff Robertson and Ronald Peterson, the cast also includes Chloë Sevigny, Danny Glover, Tilda Swinton, Iggy Pop, Rosie Perez, Selena Gomez, Tom Waits, Carol Kane, and more.
While we love a heavy, intense zombie story like The Walking Dead, there is something extra fun about a zombie flick that takes tropes of the genre and winks to society at large and uses the undead to make us laugh. The trailer is full of easy one-liners and memorable scenes in addition to Adam Driver’s now-iconic pronunciation of “ghouls” like an undead Carol Kane asking for chardonnay or a zombie Iggy Pop mumbling about getting his coffee.
So brush up on your zombie lore, and get ready to fight for the living. The undead fun will start when The Dead Don’t Die hits theaters this summer on June 14.
