The 100 season 3 is a long way off (booo!), but the official synopsis offers some enticing clues to tide us over!

It’s been months since the finale of The 100 season 2, but the fandom has certainly not slowed down, both engaging with The 100 Charity Project, and trying to get the show nominated for some Teen Choice Awards.

Much to our delight, The 100 has so far been nominated in three categories: Choice TV Show (Sci-Fi/Fantasy), Choice TV Actor (Sci-Fi/Fantasy — Bob Morley), and Choice TV Actress (Sci-Fi/Fantasy — Eliza Taylor)!

It’s not all good news, though. The fans were sad to learn that we won’t be getting season 3 this fall as we’d initially assumed. Instead, The 100 season 3 will premiere in the spring of 2016, leaving us with one hell of a hiatus to muddle through.

This will definitely help feed the Tumblr community, however, as The CW has released the official season 3 synopsis:

For two seasons, the refugees of The 100 sent to Earth have been at war. First with themselves, then with the Grounders, and finally with Mount Weather. Many have lost their lives along the way. All have lost their innocence. They have learned the hard way that in the fight for survival, there are no heroes and no villains. There is only the living and the dead. But now the war is over. The battle against Mount Weather has been won. The prisoners have returned home to a world seemingly at peace, but can they find peace within themselves after what they had to do to escape? And is there more to life than just surviving? Unfortunately, their newfound sense of normalcy will be short-lived, and their lives will be changed forever, as threats both old and new test their loyalties, push them past their limits, and make them question what it truly means to be human. First, they fought to survive. Then, they fought for their friends. Now, they will fight for the human race.

In the season 2 finale, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) left Camp Jaha behind, too scarred by her actions at Mount Weather to face the people she sacrificed so much to save.

Meanwhile, Jaha (Isaiah Washington) made a very curious and upsetting discovery, when he was led to a mysterious mansion, and began to unlock the mystery of how the world ended. (And we’re now left with the question: could it happen again?)

As Jason Rothenberg told TV Line after the finale, “One of the things we’re doing with this ending is getting back to how it all began. It’s a totally new element for the show. It’s a more technological thing, for sure. We’re going to play with how the world ended in the first place, and hopefully, we’ll upend some expectations.”

We’re certainly excited for The 100 season 3 — even if we do have a long wait ahead of us!
