The first teaser for Terminator: Dark Fate is here, and it’s filled with new, deadly terminators and an even deadlier Sarah Connor.
The Terminator franchise has gone through a lot of changes over the past few years. While fan response to Terminator: Genisys was mixed at best, the franchise looks like it is going to be better than ever in Terminator: Dark Fate.
The Dark Fate trailer is full of the stuff the Terminator franchise does best: exciting, deadly, new terminators, heart-pounding action paired with a solid emotional base, and utterly badass heroes. Not only do we get to see the matriarch of the Terminator franchise, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) kicking ass to protect humanity, we also get to meet another terminator-with-a-heart-of-gold played by Mackenzie Davis.
Now, you might find yourself a bit curious as to where this film falls on the Terminator franchise timeline. That’s more than a little understandable. While Dark Fate is technically the sixth in the franchise (and don’t forget the Lena Headey-led series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles), it is taking a lesson from 2018’s Halloween and ignoring most of the other films in the franchise and acting as the sequel to The Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
And while it’s great to see Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Connor, we can’t help but notice the new, deadly terminator that our heroes have to tangle with. Gabriel Luna plays this film’s new, big terminator foe and he’s got a pretty impressive ability: the ability to make a carbon copy of himself. This can’t be a good sign for humanity at large.
Of course, we’ve also got some big questions for this movie. We thought Sarah was able to stop Judgement Day in T2, so why is she still having to fight an incursion of terminator threats? And we’re definitely curious to find out how Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character is back after he melted to death at the end of T2.
We’ve got lots of questions, and we can’t wait to see this movie to get our answers. Terminator: Dark Fate will answer these questions and more when it lands in theaters on November 1.
