Taylor Swift has made the decision to postpone her upcoming concert tour dates in light of the current coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement posted to Twitter, Taylor Swift announced that she has opted to postpone her forthcoming concert tour dates, originally set to take place this summer.
Like many others, Swift has chosen to reschedule her originally planned tour dates due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
In her announcement, the pop star also stressed to fans the importance of continuing to practice social distancing in an effort to flatten the curve.
“I’m so sad I won’t be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know that this is the right decision,” tweeted the Lover singer on Friday (April 17). “Please, please stay healthy and safe. I’ll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what’s important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us.”
Swift paired her tweet with a lengthier statement where she further explained that the decision to postpone her tour comes as a result of wanting to ensure “the safety and wellbeing of fans,” in addition to abiding by the rules implemented by health organizations and governments around the world who “have strongly discouraged public gatherings for an undetermined period of time.”
In addition, the official statement also lets ticket holders know that Taylor Swift plans to reschedule her tour dates to next year.

“The U.S. and Brazil shows will be rescheduled to take place in 2021, with dates to be announced later this year.”
For Swifties who already snatched up tickets to the Lover Fest tour, the statement reassures that “tickets held for each of those shows will transfer to a new show date without action on the part of the ticket holders.”
Finally, the statement also addresses the topic of refunds, saying: “For those who desire refunds for tickets purchased from the U.S. Lover Fest shows, they will be available starting May 1st subject to Ticketmaster terms. Watch for an email from Ticketmaster with instructions on how to request one. For currently available information on all other performance dates, please visit TaylorSwift.com.”
