The old Taylor is dead, and apparently so are her biggest public feuds.
It looks like Band-Aids can fix bullet holes. Maybe we really can have nice things. Evidently, there is something that’s better than revenge… and it’s new music!
In a shocking turn of events, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Katy Perry have announced that they’re burying their respective hatchets and will be teaming up for a brand new single, hitting the airwaves this summer.
This news is extremely surprising, given the very public feuds that Taylor Swift has with both of the artists. She even references both stars in her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video.
In the video, Swift appears with Katy Perry’s alleged “spirit animal,” the cheetah, flaunting a Grammy which Miss Perry has yet to procure. She also throws major shade at Kanye’s “tilted stage,” and makes a not-so-subtle claim that Kim Kardashian West’s “receipts,” aka the video in which Swift approved Kanye’s “Famous” lyrics was doctored.
The first hint for the collab came from Swift’s own Twitter account. She tweeted out lyrics from her own iconic anthem, “…Ready for It?” tagging Katy Perry and also referencing Kanye West.
Perry then followed suit, tweeting out the exact same lyric.
Although Kanye West no longer has a Twitter account, his wife, Kim Kardashian West, who was also heavily involved in the latest Tay-ye scandal, used her account to promote the project with a wink.
From these tweets, it’s obvious that the three mega-stars are planning on teaming up for something. Given that they’re all musicians at the top of their game, it only makes sense that they’d be collaborating on a new song, which is truly unbelievable news.
Given all the drama that’s been brewing between Swift, Perry and West, and all the hype that’s sure to be generated around this release, it will certainly be the musical event of the year, if not the decade. Move over, anyone who thought they’d be a contender for song of the summer in 2018. This new power trio simply could not be beat.
To confirm that the news was, in fact, what we guessed, we reached out to Swift’s representatives. Luckily, they were able to confirm our suspicions. Interestingly enough, they denied that there’d ever been “bad blood” between these artists in the first place…
“We can confirm that Taylor Swift will be teaming up with Katy Perry and Kanye West for an upcoming track, which will be titled ‘Imma Let You Finish.’ All of the artists are very excited about working together, and look forward to subverting the media’s claims that they are anything but supportive of each other,” a representative for Swift said.
The rep went on to state that “the artists insist that their respective feuds have been completely fabricated by the public, and any claims that they, themselves, have had a hand in perpetuating them are entirely false.”
When we inquired about the very specific, very direct shots that Swift has taken at each artist in the Reputation era, the line seemed to become saturated with static that very much resembled one of Swift’s own cats purring.
Before the call was dropped, however, the rep did share some juicy details about the video for the upcoming track. “It will be a recreation of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies,’ featuring the three stars dancing in black unitards while cheetahs lounge on giant Grammy and MTV Video Music Award statues.”
Stay tuned for more on this very special project!
