NBC has made a straight-to-series order for a Taken TV show, set before the events of the Liam Neeson movie series.
Bryan Mills has a very particular set of skills, and we’re about to learn how he got them!
Deadline reports that NBC has ordered a TV series based on the popular Taken movie franchise, from original creator Luc Besson.
The series will follow a young, single Bryan Mills, exploring his pre-Taken adventures and revealing just how he became the badass revenger as we know and love him.
In the first movie, Liam Neeson states: “What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.” This is reportedly the line that inspired the show.

With Limitless premiering this month on CBS, The X-Files returning to Fox and NBC’s own Heroes reboot, it seems like TV networks are getting in on the spin-off/reboot craze sweeping Hollywood.
NBC has ordered the Taken prequel straight-to-series, meaning that they’re expecting the popularity of the movie franchise to draw people to the show.
Unfortunately, Liam Neeson is not currently attached to the project, and likely won’t be reprising his role, as the Bryan of the show will be significantly younger and less experienced than the version of the character played by Neeson in the movies.
Taken became a surprise box office hit in 2008, launching Neeson’s career as an action star. We expect that the series will lose a bit of its appeal without him, as Liam Neeson is probably the main reason the movie franchise is such a hit.
