Finally, Syfy has confirmed that Wynonna Earp will return for season 2, And after that cliffhanger, it’s a no-brainer!
Wynonna Earp is one of our favorite new shows — marrying Buffy‘s kick-ass girl power with Supernatural‘s small-town monster hunting format (with more than a dash of the Western genre), what’s not to love?
The first season debuted in April and finished strong a month ago, leaving viewers hanging on a shocking, game-changing cliffhanger.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2016, the cast and crew could officially report that the show is returning for season 2. The show immediately erupted with cheers, and a standing ovation!
This is fantastic news, but not totally unexpected; although it’s only been in our lives for a few months, Wynonna Earp is already picking up a big cult following.
The series is based on the comic book series by Beau Smith, developed for television by Emily Andras. It stars Melanie Scrofano as Wynonna Earp, a descendant of the legendary Wyatt Earp. She returns to her hometown when her uncle dies, and is promptly tasked with banishing her ancestor’s old foes, who have returned as demons.
Dominique Provost-Chalkley is Waverly, Wynonna’s younger sister, who discovers her bisexuality in season 1 and pursues a relationship with Officer Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell).
Then there’s Shamier Anderson as special agent Xavier Dolls, Wynonna’s partner in crime. And finally Tim Rozon plays Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp’s old partner who returns with unfinished business.
The new series will be 10 episodes long, and debut on Syfy in 2017. We’ll keep you posted as more news breaks from the Wynonna Earp cast and crew at San Diego Comic-Con.
