Superstore fans can look forward to tuning in for a few more episodes than they might have been expecting when it comes to the hit sitcom’s fifth season.
Update (11/5/19): According to Deadline, NBC revealed on Tuesday (November 5) that it has officially ordered four more episodes of Superstore season 5.
The latest order brings the hit workplace sitcom to a total of 22 episodes for its fifth season. Additionally, it bumps Superstore season 5 up to a full season order.
The hit comedy’s fifth season has been dominating numbers wise since it premiered on September 26. In addition to killing it across digital platforms, season 5 is raking in a whopping 6.7 million viewers to date— up from 3.9 million viewers overall.
With numbers like that, it’s probably no surprise to hear that Superstore is currently NBC’s highest rated comedies. With that in mind, it’s no wonder the network has moved to bump up the episode count for season 5.
And speaking of NBC, it’s clear the network knows it’s got a good thing going for them when it comes to the America Ferrera-led sitcom.
In fact, NBC was quick to pick the series up for a fifth season back in March. The good news of the renewal came just three days before the show was set to return after a three-month mid-season hiatus.
