Supergirl season 2 is adding two new series regulars and three new recurring roles, including Lex Luthor’s younger sister.
We previously reported that Supergirl will feature Superman in season 2, and now we’re hearing about five new additions to the superhero series’ sophomore season.
The first series regular being added to the cast is Lena Luthor, the younger sister of Lex Luthor. TVLine reports that Lena will be “in the 25-35 year old range.” She comes to National City “to get out from under the shadow of her infamous brother.” Lena is described as “sexy and smart and determined to get what she wants.” What exactly that is remains a mystery.
The second series regular is named Nick Farrow. The son of a famous reporter, he’s described as a “brash leading man” who comes into conflict with Kara at CatCo. Moreover, he’s “looking to make a name for himself in the news world but the question of whether he can leave behind his former selfish and hedonistic ways will constantly arise. In hanging out with Kara, the hero in Nick might finally come out.”
As for the recurring characters, we have the following:
- The Doctor: She is the leader of Project Cadmus (where Jeremiah Danvers is currently being held; in the comics, Superboy is created by Cadmus). She implants her prisoners with alien technology. Serling Roquette, perhaps?
- Snapper Carr: He is described as “a veteran journalist appointed by Cat to remake the news division by going old school.” I’d guess he is coming in to augment Cat Grant’s presence since Calista Flockhart won’t be in as many episodes now that Supergirl has moved production to Vancouver.
- Maggie: A lesbian detective who works for the Science Police, a newly-formed group dealing specifically with aliens and metahumans.
Supergirl season 2 will air Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW this fall.
