Little Gilbert is coming back to Mystic Falls. Steven R. McQueen will reprise his role in The Vampire Diaries spinoff, Legacies.

We’ve seen very little of Jeremy Gilbert since The Vampire Diaries season 6, after which Steven R. McQueen ceased to be a series regular. However, we did catch a glimpse of him in the series finale, when we learned that he’s a teacher at the Salvatore Boarding School.

Ever since we learned that the latest Mystic Falls-centric spinoff, Legacies, would be taking place at the school, we’ve been wondering if there would be any possibility of seeing Mr. Gilbert in action.

Well, TVLine is now reporting that Steven R. McQueen will, in fact, reprise his role in Legacies. He will definitely appear in the third episode of the series, but hopefully we’ll get to see him a lot more.

Jeremy is a unique character, since he has the Hunter’s Curse and is part of the Brotherhood of the Five. It would be great if we got to explore some more of that mythology with him, or at least learn what he’s been up to since he left the show. Maybe his big sister will even stop by to visit…

It was also previously announced that Zach Roerig will be reprising his role as Matt Donovan in Legacies, so this cast is shaping up to be both great and nostalgic. We can’t wait to see new stories with these old characters that The Vampire Diaries fans love so dearly.

Legacies premieres on Thursday, October 25 at 9/8c on the CW. Check out the series’ first sizzle reel, here.
