Incoming Late Show host Stephen Colbert has released a five minute video in which he prepares his face for his new late night talk show.
“Good news: I still exist,” Stephen says at the start of his video while eating a hot dog and subtly showing off his Apple Watch (which looks like a stainless steel version with a white sport band to this writer).
Stephen then spends the next few minutes shaving off parts of his beard and explaining why he’s going to remove each one. His facial hair grossly falls into his half-eaten hot dog each time.
One big question mark on Stephen’s new show is if he’d be bringing the Colbert Report character — which gave him his fame — over to CBS. While this new video lacks any political references, he does seem to use the same sense of humor that we fell in love with on Report. With that said, it’s unlikely he’s going to be playing a parody of a contrastive talk show host like he did on Comedy Central.
The video was posted on a new Late Show website which features photos and a new podcast featuring Stephen and his team. The first episode is 20 minutes and offers an update on how the development of the new show is going.
As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a new Late Show app brilliantly named “Colbr” which will surely have lots of content once the show begins.
Stephen also this week began tweeting jokes with the hashtag “#LSSC,” short for “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” It’s clear that the promotional campaign for his show, which premieres in September, is getting started.
The promotional launch arrives exactly two weeks after David Letterman ended his Late Show run.
