Disney+ announces ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ animated series, coming 2021

A brand new animated Star Wars series called Star Wars: The Bad Batch will soon be making its way to Disney+!

On Monday (July 13), Disney+ announced that it has officially ordered a brand new Star Wars animated series from Lucasfilm.

Titled Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the new series will officially be hitting the online streaming platform some time next year.

So what can fans expect when the show finally makes its grand debut?

Per the series’ official synopsis, the series will focus the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced via The Clone Wars)— a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army.

Each member the Bad Batch possess a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. The series will, in turn, follow along as they attempt to find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Along the way, they’ll take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.

In a statement announcing the new animated series, Agnes Chu (senior Vice President, content, Disney+) described Star Wars: The Bad Batch as being the “final chapter” of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series,” said Chu.
