A majority of Star Wars fans believe that J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens will be the best movie yet.
Do you have high hopes for December’s seventh installment in the Star Wars saga, directed by J.J. Abrams and bringing back the original cast to play off a new generation of characters?
If the answer is yes, you’re not alone! Variety has released a survey by Harris Interactive, which polled 2,031 Americans and found that 63% think the Force Awakens will be the best in the saga.

Surprisingly, perhaps, it’s not the story or directors that are hyping up Episode VII, but rather the special effects. “More advanced CGI” is the reason cited by 36% of the moviegoers surveyed, with 15% putting their trust in J.J. Abrams.
25% believe that The Force Awakens will be more true to the Star Wars series (we expect, as opposed to the prequel trilogy), and 25% cite “a more interesting story” as their reason for trusting in the success of this movie.
At the same time, The Force Awakens certainly has its very vocal dissenters, who don’t think any Star Wars movie could ever top the original trilogy — especially not after the let-down of the prequel trilogy.
But what do you think? Will The Force Awakens be better, worse, or in between the previous Star Wars movies?
