The PG-13 edition of Deadpool hitting theaters for the holidays, and it features a touching tribute to the late Stan Lee.
With the release of the latest version of Deadpool hitting theaters, as well as the recent passing of Marvel comics legend Stan Lee, it seems only fitting that the two would come together for a fitting tribute.
A post-credits scene is featured following Once Upon a Deadpool which showcases a montage of photographs of Lee over the years, with A-Ha’s “Take On Me” playing over the top.
The tribute reportedly ends with Lee’s iconic catchphrase: “Excelsior!”
With several more Marvel movies due out over the next year — including this month’s Into the Spider-Verse — fans should expect to see more Stan Lee cameos and tributes. Many were filmed and voiceovers recorded prior to Lee’s death.
Lee may be gone, but he will live on just a little bit longer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We should expect to see him next in 2019’s Captain Marvel.
