In a new clip from Scandal season 3, episode 11 titled “Ride Sally Ride,” David’s looking to enlist James to help him convict Sally of murder.
During the Scandal mid-season finale in December, Vice President Sally Langston murdered her husband after he was caught having relations with David. She naturally regretted the situation – particularly due to the fact that her maker would not approve.
You may remember that she called Cyrus for advice. As it turns out, the NSA obtained the phone call and now it’s in the hands of David, who’s looking to get some more evidence because this tape is inadmissible.
With his new job in the White House, James is less than eager to help and hints that he’s got a full plate of work ahead of him on this particular day (what could it be?).

This is the second clip to be released from Scandal’s mid-season premiere. The first one depicted Mellie and Olivia meeting for lunch as paparazzi swarm from the outside.
The synopsis for “Ride Sally Ride” reads, “The White House deals with a bombshell announcement from Sally Langston. Meanwhile, Olivia finds herself in a challenging new role.”
This spoiler-free synopsis makes it sound like Sally may announce her run for President after all, but viewers have to remember that the White House now knows what she did to her husband, so if she were to run against Fitz, they could get her thrown away.
Scandal resumes this Thursday, February 27th at 10 p.m. eastern/pacific on ABC.
Thanks to TV Line for the clip.
