Sarah Michelle Gellar is officially returning to the small screen.
According to Deadline, Fox has picked up a brand new limited series that’ll star and will be executive produced by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The actress took to Instagram on Wednesday (November 13) to share the good news with fans far and wide, writing: “Yay I can finally share with all of you!!! Thank you @foxtv and @theellenshow. 2020 is going to be an exciting (and busy) year.”
Titled Sometimes I Lie, the network has given the series a script commitment.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star isn’t the only big name attached to the forthcoming project. In addition, Sometimes I Lie is also set to be produced by comedian/daytime talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
Specifically, Degeneres will be producing the project under her A Very Good Production banner, alongside Warner Bros. TV and Fox Entertainment.
Based on the 2017 best seller by Alice Feeney (a former BBC Journalist) Sometimes I Lie will be adapted into a limited series by Robin Swicord, who previously scored an Oscar nomination for his work on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Billed as a psychological thriller, the limited series focuses on Amber Reynolds (Gellar) — a woman in a coma who can’t remember how she came to be in one. As Amber lies in wait, she tries her best to figure out what happened to her the week before, although it sounds as though that’ll be easier said than done — especially given that Amber has no idea who she can trust anymore.
With her life in danger, Amber must get to the bottom of who’s lying if she hopes to keep herself safe.
As the project is still in its early stages, there’s currently no word on when we can expect to see Sometimes I Lie premiere via Fox.
That being said, given Sarah Michelle Gellar’s comments on Instagram, it sounds as though production on Sometimes I Lie is set to start sometime next year.
